CRICKET fans in Worcester will see a perfect match next week - as two newly-weds celebrate their marriage on a boundary beach at New Road.
Gay Hodge and Gavin Wood are holding their reception at Worcestershire's ground next week during a game against Gloucestershire.
But rather than let the match inconvenience the happy couple, who are tying the knot at Malvern Register Office, the club is giving them access to the pitchside beach.
It is prepared for every Twenty20 Cup home game and features luxury surroundings including spas, cocktails and a terrific vantage point.
"I think it's going to be so cool. It will be making an already-special day extra special," said 36-year-old Gay, a training officer for the Co-Op, when she tested the area.
"If we get weather like we've had for the past couple of days, with the backdrop we have here and the match, it should be fantastic," added Gavin, 33, who works for QinetiQ in Malvern.
And the couple - from St John's, Worcester - will hit the beach again days after the match, when they travel to Cyprus for their honeymoon.
