BELBROUGHTON surged up to third in the Worcester League Division Two with a comfortable win over Malvern on Saturday.

Geoff Day hit 101, while Michael Pardoe smashed 40, as the Tons set Malvern a challenging total of 264 for victory.

Rob Hawk then took four wickets as Malvern were dismissed for 211.

Captain Dave Hayward said: "It was an excellent result by the team.

"It was very warm which made it hard, but we batted superbly."

Belbroughton play Bromyard at home on Saturday (1.30pm start).

The tons' second team could only manage a losing draw against Malvern on Saturday. Colin Baggs and Charlie Pierson took four wickets each as Malvern were dismissed for 183. Despite Mark Burrows' 61, Belbroughton were kept to 161-9.

In Division Five Belbroughton defeated Cleobury Mortimer by four wickets. Cleobury were dismissed for 150 and Matt Whittlestone hit 43 as the Tons made 154-6.

Belbroughton lost to Chaddesley Corbett to fall from the top of Division Seven. Tony Boardman hit 47 as the Tons were removed for 148, while Corbett hit 151-2 in response.

Alveley 256-5 Cutnall Green 258-4.

Cutnall Green win by

six wickets

NEIL Fletcher hit 108 to ensure a victory, which steered Cutnall Green to second in the Worcester League Division Four on Saturday.

Green's bowlers had worked hard in the warm weather to restrict Alveley to 256, with Don Faulkner taking 4-64 and Arief Saleem 2-72.

Fletcher's aggressive batting meant Green were averaging seven runs an over.

However, after he was dismissed Cutnall needed 60 runs for victory, which Simon Monk (32) and Derek Higgins (28 not out) guided them to.

Green take on Birlingham on Saturday at home (1.30pm start).

Martley 241 all out Himbleton 242-5

Himbleton win by five wickets

HIMBLETON found their form with a comfortable win over Martley in Division Four on Saturday.

John O'Hara took 5-74 as Martley set Himbleton a testing 242 for victory.

Captain Andy Howorth guided his side to victory by hitting 102, while Paul Thomas hit 48.

The win also saw the Tons, who experienced a slow start to the season, move into fourth place in the table.

Himbleton take on Alveley at home on Saturday (1.30pm start).
