THERE must be many of us dreading the trip to and from work during the Transco gas main works. It's hard enough to get home under normal circumstances without having to endure horrendous hold-ups.
As a lot of us will be trying to avoid the city centre, a simple solution to ease the congestion would be to place temporary traffic lights on all the roundabouts from the M5 to the Malvern roundabout at the end of Carrington Way. This would ensure that all traffic had the opportunity to move and although travelling would be slower at least it would avoid gridlock when no cars want to give way. This is something we suffered during the last floods.
If traffic lights aren't feasible, how about the police directing the traffic at peak times? Let's face it, they aren't going to be able to catch anyone speeding!
