YOUNGSTERS from a town school are off to London to see the Blairs!
Pupils and staff at Rigby Hall School have been invited to take tea with Cherie Blair in the plush surroundings of 10 Downing Street.
This visit has been set up by Bromsgrove MP Julie Kirkbride and will involve three pupils and three members of staff.
Rigby Hall has 90 students aged between five and 19. It teaches youngsters with moderate to severe learning difficulties and has been at the centre of controversy since a report by Worcestershire education chiefs suggested that it may close. But following an outcry, plans for the possible closure have been shelved.
"We are looking forward to the visit and will be deciding which pupils and staff will make the visit to London," said head teacher Marliyn Calvert.
Julie Kirkbride said when she had the opportunity to nominate three pupils from her constituency it was a hard decision.
"Rigby Hall has had a tough time and the youngsters at the school have been given a difficult start in life so I decided they should have the chance," she said.
