RESIDENTS will now be able to tell Bromsgrove District Council what they think about a variety of issues through a series of "snap shot surveys" on the authority's website.

The results of the 'Quick Polls' will be used to tailor services to better meet the needs of local people.

Vince Harrison, Head of Administrative Services, said: "The first survey which will run until July 15, asks about Global Warming and future surveys will ask questions about a whole range of issues related to the many services the council provides, such as grass cutting and road cleanliness.

"It could not be easier to let us know your views - simply log on to the council's website and look for the 'Quick Poll' which can be found on the left of the council's home page. Have a look and register your vote."

Although these polls are not scientific they will give us a useful indication of peoples' views on matters important to them and, will help us deliver better services."

The results of the Global Warming poll may help the council to decide how far to get involved in the Worcestershire Climate Change Strategy.

The Council will be using this new consultation exercise, which is part of the e-democracy national project, to inform the delivery of its services. Other initiatives to be developed in the near future will include more detailed on-line consultation, a web page for each elected councillor, and possibly on-line discussion forums on council services.
