LAST Sunday saw a smaller than usual turnout of dinghies at the Arden club at Def-ford.
The first race was the fourth in the Pursuit Series and was won by Niall Campbell and Jane Smee in an Ent-erprise who finished 13 seconds ahead of the Solo of Ralph Evans.
The Appleby's GP14 overhauled Val Jolly's Topper literally two or three seconds before the line.
The second race was a Strensham Five when the GP14 and Topper both found rounding the corner below Strensham Chu-rch quite tricky in the variable breeze.
Jeremy and Michelle Griffiths pressed Cam-pbell and Smee from the start but the latter got away to take the victory when their rival craft shipped a lot of water leaving the crew to concentrate on bailing out.
Jolly, meanwhile, rev-ersed the earlier result to overcome the GP14 of David Appleby and his son.
There are still some places on the training course starting on Saturday, July 2 for any one interested in learning to sail. For more details and an application form contact Alan on 0121 453 6611 or Ray on 01386 554109.
