A FAMILY of ducklings has been given a clean bill of health after Redditch firefighters rescued them from the depths of a drain on Sunday morning.
The 12 ducklings and their mother were seen crossing the Bromsgrove Highway near the Foxlydiate sliproad at about 11.55am.
But apart from the mother duck, only one duckling managed to get across the road.
The other ducklings - thought to be just a couple of weeks old - plunged to the bottom of a storm drain at the side of the road.
A member of the public saw the distressed mother duck and called the RSPCA, who then alerted Redditch fire station.
They sent out a team of five firefighters to rescue the distressed birds.
