PAUL Prince believed he could fly when he won the first round of Concorde Cycling Club's sprint series.
Prince started the 40-kilometre event in Wishaw strongly and by the second lap had tried to take the lead, but could not stay ahead of the chasing pack.
However, on the final lap Prince broke away with two other riders to edge away and in the final 150 metres sprinted away to victory.
Prince maintained his excellent form by winning Wyre Forest CC's ten-mile trial in Warndon, finishing the course in 22.48 minutes.
He was followed by Kris Doms (24.16mins), Dave Wood (24.23mins), Joe Rowe (24.45mins), Gary Bartram (25.05mins), Richard Pederson (25.07mins), Karl Davies (25.21mins), James Smith (25.53mins), Andy Convery (25.59mins), Brian Clarke (26.59mins), Jonathon Higgins (27.31mins), Mike Clackson (27.37mins), Ruth Finney (27.58mins) and Mick Gray (29.22mins).
Finney and Phil Blacker rode their tandem to success in a time of 24.14mins, followed by Sue Middup-Jones and Alan Griffiths (28.47mins).
Prince's Wyre Forest teammates Dave Barnes and Gary Bartram set season best times at the South Wales Police CC. Barnes finished the course in 56.46mins, followed by Bartram in 56.54mins.
