THE fastest racing cars in two head-to-head battles where every point counts!
That will be the format when the Top Ten Challenge Series takes centre stage at Prescott this weekend at the Bugatti Owners' Club's midsummer high-speed hill climb.
The Top Ten Challenge - backed by long-time sponsors Avon Racing Tyres and Birmingham Motor Tyres Ltd - is run on British Champion-ship lines and attracts some of the best drivers.
Competitors must go all out to qualify for the two points-scoring run-offs - one just before lunch for the fastest 12 drivers from the morning class runs and the second at the end of the meeting takes the quickest qualifiers from the afternoon session.
Entries include seven of the top ten drivers in this year's British title race namely Willem Toet (Brackley), Simon Durling (Sevenoaks), Roger and Scott Moran (Ludlow), Rob Turnbull (Sut-ton Coldfield), Trevor Willis (Aylesbury), and police officer Chris Merrick who leads the local drivers.
Local entries include husband-and-wife team Richard and Gill Marshall from Bishop's Cleeve in their rapid Gould-Dallara and Chelten-ham's Terry and Tricia Davis who will be back in action after last month's major engine blow-up at their local track.
The event also counts tow-ards the Clark's BMW Motor-Cycles Midland Championship and the Paul Matty Sports Cars Classic Challenge for cars built up to and including 1971.
Practice on Saturday starts at 9.30am with the competitive runs the next morning from 10.
Adult admission is £10 on Saturday and £15 on Sunday, accompanied children under 14 are admitted free and car parking is free.
