SUPPORTERS of Alcester's bid to build a new headquarters for scouts and guides turned out in force on Friday to see the first physical stage in the building project. Chairman Jeremy Howell had the honour of cutting the turf on the Moorfield Road site watched by other members of the joint committee, local dignitaries, families and friends of the scouts and guides.
As reported in last week's Chronicle, the youngsters should be in the new building by early next year, though there are still funds to raise to complete the interior work. Some of this they hope will be carried out by volunteers.
