PUPILS at a city school turned super-sleuths for a day when they investigated a mock murder using forensic analysis.
Children from Year 8 of Bishop Perowne High School, off Merrimans Hill Road, were faced with the scenario of trying to find out who was responsible for the death of the person found in one of the science labs. The event was organised as part of this week's Discovery Week and the object of the exercise was to examine the evidence found at the scene, such as fingerprints, fabric, soil, and handwriting.
"They used proper scientific analysis to analyse the evidence and come up with the culprit," said Dorothy Robinson, organiser of the Discovery Week event, which took place on Monday.
"It was a super day. The children really enjoyed it."
While Year 11 pupils are preparing to sit their GSCE exams and Year 10 pupils are on work experience, the school has suspended the timetable for Years 7, 8 and 9 for the week of activities.
It includes dance, film, sound and artwork being created for a public performance plus trips organsied to places such as Goodrich Castle, Warwick Castle, Bristol Zoo, Drayton Manor Park, Alton Towers and Worcester Cathedral.
