MEMBERS of Bewdley Pines Golf Club are off in search of success in Austria this weekend.
And, if their past exploits are anything to go by, they could well be returning in triumph.
The four-man team, comprising captain John Brown, Roy Stevens, Jim Stevens and Craig Cox, have won through to the final of the MW Golf Classic, which is being staged in Austria on Sunday.
The competition format is on a league basis with the top two teams in each league going into the quarter-final.
To reach the last eight the determined Bewdley team beat Brickhampton, Worsfield, Cleobury Mortimer, Rye Hill and The Vale.
They then met Bristol in the quarter-final which they won on countback, but as there is no ruling in the event of a tie, the organisers allowed Bristol to play in the semi-finals too.
The Pines quartet then travelled to The Players Club in Bristol for the semis, which included teams from throughout England, Ireland and Scotland.
On this occasion the Bewdley team won outright after a six-hour match, to become the first of three qualifying sides to secure a trip to Austria for the grand finals.
