IT was celebrations all round for Bewdley Rowing Club with members scooping a total of 10 wins at Bridgnorth Regatta followed by another prestigious win at Loughborough.
The Bridgnorth event brought success for the women's novice coxed fours of Eleni Randle, who was taking part in her first regatta, Steph Bryant, Kate Evans and Louise Millington, coxed by Anne O'Connell, against Evesham over the 1,000 metre downstream course.
The men's novice coxed four quickly followed the success of the women with a comfortable win against Shakespeare, having defeated Shrewsbury School and Pengwern in earlier heats. The crew of Barry Turner, Noel Webb, Simon Thornycroft, Sean Raybould and cox Zena Clark notched a four-length verdict.
Mother and daughter joined forces in the women's senior 4 coxed four. Alison Evans, Jackie Thompson, Kate Evans, Anne O'Connell, with cox Sian Thompson, beat Worcester by a quarter of a length.
The men's senior 3 coxed four of Matt Collier, Ben Bevan, Ben Warnett, Jason Carpenter and cox Clark triumphed over Clifton College, who were also beaten by the men's J18 coxed four by half a length.
Racing for the first time this season, the women's veteran D double scull of Sue Merchant and Lyn Beech won easily against Evesham.
Vice-captain Richard Jackson brought home four tankards for wins in the J18 single sculls, J18 double sculls with Alex Holden-Smith and J18 coxed four along with Simon Barbour, Stewart Cherrington and Holden-Smith, coxed by Thompson.
His final win came in the senior 3 coxless quad with Barbour, Holden-Smith and Andy Phillips.
Phillips, who had previously won the novice single sculls easily at Evesham against the Norwich and Star Club, then joined up with Dominic Pitt at Bridgnorth in a senior 4 double scull to beat Warwick.
At Shrewsbury, Phillips, along with Mike Raven, Garren England and Matt Thomas in a senior 4 coxless quad, beat Loughborough.
Bewdley returned to the multi-lane 1,000m course at the National Water Sport Centre, Holme Pierrepont, for the Loughborough Regatta/National Veterans Regatta.
In ever-changing weather conditions, and a head wind, Jackson, Barbour, Holden-Smith, Cherrington and cox Sian Thompson won by 0.2 of a second over Cambridge in the senior 2 coxed four event.
The open veteran D eights of John Scott, Carol Jackson, Peter Simpson, Dave Morton, Nigel Tinsdale, Derek Chapman, Tony Raybould, Tony Clay, with cox and coach Charlotte Beswick, put in a strong performance, but just missed out to Hollingworth Lake by 0.9 of a second in their final.
