I BELIEVE that a town's gateway says a lot about the town.
If the town sign is dirty and the grass verges are not cut it usually means that the town or village is untidy.
While the district council and highways department are probably doing their best it is a shame that the the gateways to our towns are spoilt by the weeds and long grass that are growing through the slabs and cobbled stone around our traffic islands and lights.
Had a little weedkiller been applied before the weeds got so big the problem would have been solved but now the only answer is to pull them up or strim them down.
These areas make our towns look like an inner city slum area or a disused airfield.
I have written to the district council about this so by the time you read this the problem may have been solved. I hope so.
