KIDDERMINSTER Lions Football Club roared their way to a double honour when the Worcestershire FA held their annual Charter Standard Club awards ceremony.
Not only were they named as the WFA Charter Standard Club of the Year, their chief coach John Powell picked up the Coach of the Year award.
Lions secretary Jim Tyler said: "It was a tremendous honour for the club to win both the awards. It was a credit to the hard work of all concerned with the club, committee members, managers, coaches, plus, of course, the dedication of the players and their parents."
He added that former Kidderminster Harriers player Powell's vast football knowledge, coaching skills and keenness was a tremendous asset to all the Lions' players and coaches.
The Lions will be fielding 10 teams in the Stourport and District Youth Football League next season, ranging from under eight through to under 16. They also have a thriving junior coaching section.
Around 140 players were joined by their parents for the club's annual presentation night at Kidderminster Town Hall when every player received a trophy, presented to them by Harriers midfielder Simon Russell.
