BURMA veteran, Phil Chesterton, has received a special despatch from the Queen - to attend one of her exclusive summer garden parties.
The 81-year-old member of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association fought with the regiment during the Second World War.
He has been a member of the association since he was demobbed in 1947 and is also a member of the Burma Star Association.
Mr Chesterton, said he was looking forward to next month's garden party, which he will attend with his wife Muriel, also 81, who he met when she was evacuated from Essex to Kidderminster during the war.
After marrying in 1946, they set up home in Essex where he served with the Territorial Army for 12 years.
The couple, who have six children, moved back to Kidderminster in 1964.
Mr Chesterton is also a member of the Wilden and Norton Lones branches of the Royal Antediluvian Order of the Buffalos, which raise money for charities.
