I AM appalled to read reports that South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust is threatening to close Willow Stroke Unit and Bredon Rehabilitation Ward at Evesham Community Hospital.
Both these wards are vital to the health and recovery of all patients, not only from Evesham but from many miles around. With Evesham and surrounding areas growing so quickly we need our hospital to be enlarged not diminished.
My 62 year old husband spent seven months last year in the Willow Ward recovering from a severe stroke. It was only thanks to the superb expertise and encouragement of the nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists on a daily basis that he is now home with a good quality of life.
I hope common sense prevails, and the Primary Care Trust withdraws their threat to Evesham Community Hospital.
