WHERE to start re Evesham Community Hospital and why it should not close. This most essential place which has the best stroke unit for miles around also the best physiotherapy unit for miles around must not be allowed to close.
It is essential when people need these facilities they have them where they live not an hour or more travelling time away, that's if the traffic allows. Also stroke victims need the support of their family which would make it difficult for visiting.
I have seen first hand the work done at the hospital and the volume of patients they deal with on a day to day basis. It is always possible to save money by closing down places but the cost in human terms is unimaginable, one can only assume those making these sweeping decisions have not thought about how this will affect the most vulnerable in our area.
