A FAMILY left homeless when a burst pipe covered the floor of their Worcester flat in six inches of water has been found a new place to stay.
However, Andrew Eggleton, aged 34, and his 25-year-old partner, Jenny Harris, who have a 21-month-old son, were surprised to find that it has no furniture and they won't be given any by Rooftop Housing Group.
The pair awoke early yesterday morning to discover water from a 10-inch pipe gushing through the wall of their basement property off Bridge Street, which is managed by Rooftop. The housing association has now allowed them to move into the empty flat next door.
Ms Harris said: "You just can't expect a 21-month-old to stay somewhere with no furniture."
She said the new property also had a water problem.
"There is an overflow above the fire escape. Water is running down the window and wall. We have just had enough now."
A spokeswoman for Rooftop said it would refer them to Roundabout (West Midlands) Limited.
She said: "Roundabout collects good quality household furniture and other domestic items, which are distributed to the community at very low prices."
The burst water main has now been repaired.
