Hundreds of people have already signed the petition circulating in the Vale objecting to the proposals.
The mayor, Frances Smith said: "This is even before we have got them all out. They are going into post offices, chemists, petrol stations, surgeries and offices, anywhere, in fact, where people will have them. They are going out into the villages as well. I would urge everyone to support us by signing as well as writing an individual letter."
