THERE was a disappointing turn-out for the gardeners' question time last week when Reg Moule, hot foot from Gardeners Live Show in Birmingham, was on hand to answer queries from the audience. He gave tips on acers, lavender, olive trees and roses. He suggested treatment for powdery mildew, how to treat lawns and the use of rose feed. Refreshments were served by Neville Radburn and all proceeds were for St Peter's Church.
A total of 26 people joined the evening ramble in sunshine last Monday, including four dogs! Starting from the Three Nuns, Colletts Green, the path led past The Retreat, down to Bushhill Copse and on through the wood to Hollymount Cottage.
Then down to Bransford Court, on to the banks of the River Teme, where two herons were seen. Following a steep ascent up the bank, the group split into two (by accident), meeting later for welcome refreshment at the Three Nuns. The walk was led by Phil and Joy Bunyan - who on this occasion went their separate ways!
The next walk takes place on Tuesday, July 5, leaving from the Three Nuns at 10am but going in the opposite direction. This ramble will be led by Rita de Boer, (01905) 830256, and Jo Walker, (01905) 357764.
Powick Playing Field Association annual summer fete is on Saturday, July 23 on the field behind the parish hall. Details to follow.

There are lots of fantastic stalls and games, plus a bouncy castle, quad bikes, barbecue, bar and raffle. Something for everyone!
A warm sultry evening meant that the WI strawberry and wine midsummer madness was well attended last Friday evening.
Held courtesy of Edna Jenkins and her family, the event raised money for the hospice by selling wine, strawberries and cream, items of produce, marmalade and plants.
There was a large raffle with lots of prizes. Ralph Teague drew the raffle and thanked everyone for their efforts, presenting Ian Smith with a bottle of wine for the lighting and Edna and her family received bouquets of flowers.
