A WIDOW has hit out at thieves who stole a flower arrangement from her late husband's grave.

Diane Sharpe, who is known as Dee to her friends, placed three arrangements - one from each of her daughter's families - on Cedric Sharpe's grave in Astwood Cemetery, Astwood Road, Worcester, on Monday, June 13, to commemorate his birthday.

But when Mrs Sharpe, who lives in Battenhall, Worcester, went back to the grave on Father's Day on Sunday, June 19, one of the arrangments had gone.

The one that was taken had been from her daughter Lizzie.

"It was a double blow for Lizzie because she got married on Cedric's birthday," the 67-year-old said.

"Because it was her anniversary as well as her dad's birthday when this happened, she was even more upset."

Mrs Sharpe, whose husband died suddenly two years ago, said she had been told by a friend to look on the cemetery as a happy place as it was full of flowers put there by people who had love in their life.

"The fact that this

has happened is very hurtful and shows a lack of respect," she said.

"The flowers were more or less worthless in monetary terms but they meant a lot to my family.

"I hope whoever did this reads this story and feels guilty and returns the flowers to their rightful place."

A spokesman for Worcester Police said no reports had been received of any flowers being stolen from Astwood Cemetery over the last month.

"However, if anyone sees anyone who is behaving in a manner which looks suspicious I would urge them to give us a ring on 08457 444888," he added.
