THE future of Malvern Hills Primary School will be discussed at a public meeting.
Parents are invited to look at the issues affecting the school and have their say on four options.
These are closure, pairing it with a successful neighbouring primary, devising an action plan with the governing body, or closing the school and reopening it with new governors and staff under a "Fresh Start" initiative.
Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet made the decision to go to public consultation about the school's future at a meeting on Monday.
Coun Liz Eyre, cabinet member for children's services, said: "We are aware this is a challenging school in a challenging area. The governing body has worked very hard to try and address the situation, but when a school built for 150 pupils only has 50 on roll, it becomes very hard to sustain the curriculum and provide a quality education."
She said it was not ideal to go out to consultation at the end of the summer term but the council needed to act quickly.
The meeting takes place at the school on Tuesday, July 12 at 7pm.
