"DID you know," my son asked me, "that if every household changed just one light bulb over to a low energy bulb, we would save enough electricity to run Scotland for free?"
No, I hadn't known that. Like so many of these statistics it is a little blurred at the edges: every household where? In England? In Britain? Nevertheless, I find it very heartening. I have been feeling quite depressed by the problem of global warming and the intransigent Mr Bush, now here is something I can do to help.
Having done my bit for Scotland, I dedicate my second low energy bulb to Ledbury (Sorry, Wales but I feel it's right to be less ambitious for this one, situated as it is in the spare bedroom).
So I wanted to ask your readers for their favourite statistics and energy economies, then perhaps we can stop waiting for Mr Bush to save the planet.
As my mother always said: "If you want a job done properly, do it yourself."
