HOW sad in this day of more environmental awareness there are still some developers totally unconcerned about the effect they have on wildlife.
I refer to the old Wells House School grounds where a bird nesting area has been destroyed before the birds have fully fledged. Walking the area we found many dead chicks including an abandoned lesser-spotted woodpecker, which we have had the privilege of raising to see it fly away.
Whilst understanding that aesthetically the finished results will improve the area, surely a delay of about six weeks would not have been a problem, thus allowing these birds to fledge.
