Concern over the lack of on-street parking has stalled a plan to create five flats in Malvern.

The application by Cornhull Associates was for Milestone House, 70 North Malvern Road.

Officers at Malvern Hills District Council had recommended the scheme for approval by the southern area development control committee.

Dr Angela Kitson, speaking on behalf of neighbours, told Wednesday's meeting that parking was already difficult, with few houses having off-road parking.

She said five more flats would make the situation worse.

Councillors decided to defer the plan for discussions with the applicant about providing off-road parking on the site.

Another plan for flats, at 75 Graham Road, was approved.

Cedar Branch Ltd applied to convert the former social security office into six flats.

A plan to knock down a house at 54 West Malvern Road and replace it with two more houses was given the go-ahead.

The existing house is a large Victorian building on the sloping land between West Malvern Road and Old Hollow.

The two houses envisaged by applicant L Cheese sit within the footprint of the existing house.

An application to build a bungalow on land behind Longridge Road, Poolbrook, was approved.

An amendment to an earlier planning approval, for the new medical centre at Upton, was also approved. The amendment concerned connecting the drainage to the main sewer.
