The election of Dr H E Dixey as an alderman of the Worcestershire County Council is the reward of 13 years' able and efficient service on that body. Not only has Dr Dixey looked after the interests of his own constituents, but in all matters of county administration, he has shown keen business capacity - an important fact that was evidently not lost sight of by the majority of the members when the aldermanic chair had to be filled. Malvern Gazette, June 23, 1905.

The festival of parish church choirs in Ledbury Church on Thursday last was a complete musical success. When we consider that some of the choirs came from rather remote country villages, the performances were a cause for real celebration and it's proof that the choristers had practised untiringly. This reflects as much credit up the trainers as upon the singers. Ledbury Free Press, June 27, 1905.

Concern at what might prove to be inadequate shopping facilities at Upper Howsell (where there is a council building scheme in progress) was expressed at the June meeting of the committee of the Malvern Link Electors' Association. The matter was raised by Mr E Fish, who said in view of the cost of public transport to Great Malvern, it was essential shopping facilities should be provided. Malvern Gazette, June 24, 1955.

The annual St Mary's Fete, held at the Priory, Ledbury, on Saturday, left no room for doubt that it has become firmly established as one of the most popular local events. A crowd of well over 1,000 thoroughly enjoyed a finely varied programme, designed not only to raise money for Eastnor Children's Home but also to give the maximum amount of pleasure to all. Investigations are taking place into a leakage problem in the Edinburgh Dome Sports Centre at Malvern Girls' College. Then problem came to light within months of the building being opened by the Duke of Edinburgh just over two years ago. Engineers are carrying out an investigation, together with independent assessors. Neither the college nor the company wished to comment further until completion of negotiations between them about ways of overcoming the problem. Malvern Gazette, June 26, 1980.
