WORCESTER Warriors' summer signing Andy Gomarsall has missed out on a place in the England team to face Argentina in tomorrow's Churchill Cup final.

Scrum-half Gomarsall will start the game in Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium from the bench, while Sixways' dependable flanker Pat Sanderson continues in his role of captain.

And Sanderson expects the final to live up to expectations and his side to give 100 per cent.

"We've been looking forward to this final for a long time," he said. "With losing to the New Zealand Maori last year in the last few minutes, we are keen to play well against an Argentine side we know will be there in force. We are ready for a testing game."

England coach Joe Lydon, who has made four changes to the starting line-up, is also confident Gomarsall still has a role to play in the match.

He said: "Andy Gomarsall is still the number one scrum-half on this tour, with proven ability and tre-mendous experience as his 23 caps indicate. But I expect him and Geo-rge Chuter to come off the bench in the game and make an impact."

Meanwhile, Warriors centre Simon Whatling and lock Richard Blaze have both been named in the England Under 21s team for their final match of the IRB Under 21s World Championship in Argentina.

Whatling and Blaze line-up against Six Nations champions Wales at Liceo Rugby Club for the 3pm kick-off today.

England, captained by Leicester centre Mat Cornwell, went in to the competition seeded seventh, the position they will finish if they secure a win from the game. Coach Jim Mallinder said: "We were very disappointed with the game against Argentina and will be looking for a marked improvement from this one.

"We know that Wales are a good side, they won the Six Nations beating us comfortably at the beginning of the season. This final fixture will give us a measure of how far we've come."
