A FIRST-FLOOR extension above a workshop at Worcester College of Technology has received the backing of English Heritage.
A planning application has been submitted for an extension over the Cathedral block building in Deansway, as well as the installation of a rood-top structure to enable a lift to be put in.
The building is in a very sensitive historical site close to St Andrew's Spire, the Old Palace and the Cathedral but English Heritage says it fully supports the proposal.
The development will not result in more staff but student numbers will increase because those currently transferred to the Sherriff Street complex would return to the main campus.
Worcester City's planning committee is due to vote on the scheme on Thursday.
