SPEAKER Sarah Warman, a water colour artist, expressed amazement that none of the members present had any claim to being artists. Her first plea was that we should have a try, and she then proceded to give us good advice about how to get started. It was recommended that we buy good quality paper, sable brushes and a limited quantity of paints. A number of members had brought favourite paintings with them for the competition and she talked about these before judging them. The winner, with a portrait of her daughter, was Janet Baines and Margaret Sheldon was runner up with a still-life. The vote of thanks was given by Angela Watson.
The WI will be running a stall with a red, white and blue theme at the Street Market and our next meeting will have a gardening theme. Visitors are always welcome.
