CHAIRMAN Alexandra Waters welcomed new member Edwina Buzzard at the June meeting. Speaker Mr Ken Holt gave a fascinating talk entitled 'Location Management for TV and Films'. When Ken left school he became an office boy at Denham Studios, and after various jobs including special effects and back projection plates, he joined Gerry Anderson of Thunderbirds fame. He then moved to ATV in Birmingham where he stayed for 14 years before becoming a freelance locations manager. He organised locations for Morse, London's Burning, Hamish McBeth, Judge John Deed and many more.
The locations, be they houses, streets, country lanes or warehouses, are transformed to suit the film and afterwards they are returned to their original state; a newly painted pub being repainted white and then returned to its former colour. His latest location, in May, was the empty Suzuki Garage in Priory Road, Alcester which became a set for the Rag Doll Company's latest children's TV show.
