CHRISTIAN Moore's move to a rival Nationwide North club fell through last night over concerns about the knee that required an operation last year.

The transfer-listed Worcester City striker was expected to leave St George's Lane after agreeing personal terms earlier this month.

But following a medical, the mystery club wanted to take 32-year-old Moore on trial to further assess his right knee, rather than move for a permanent deal.

Both Worcester and Moore declined a trial offer, which means the former Telford United attacker will report back to City's pre-season training this Friday.

However, City chairman Dave Boddy believes a deal could still be struck this summer for Moore, who ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments to his knee last September.

"I would not say this was dead," admitted Boddy. "I have not spoken to the club in question yet.

"We will tell them that if they want to take a closer look at Christian, they should watch our pre-season games and make their judgement then."

Boddy added: "Christian had a medical at the club last night and there was no real problem.

"But they wanted to take him on a trial basis, in which he would train with them and play a couple of pre-season friendlies.

"We are not keen on that. If Christian was to get injured during that trial period, we would still be liable for the rest of his contract.

"Their physio looked at him and said there was some movement in the knee, but that is to be expected.

"It has been eight months since his operation and the surgeon that carried it out is more than satisfied that it was a complete success."
