WORCESTER Sixth Form College's sporting academies are enjoying tremendous success across the board.
Students are excelling in athletics, basketball and football on regional and even national levels.
The most recent success saw three athletes win the senior girls' heptathlon team event representing Herefordshire and Worcestershire at the Midland Combined Events Championships in Oxfordshire.
Claire Moran, Laura Moran and Vicki Novell have now qualified for September's national finals at Southampton along with team-mate Heidi Jarosinski who attends King Charles I High School in Kidderminster.
The athletics academy at the college also produced excellent results at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Schools Athletics Championships.
At nearby Nunnery Wood Sports Complex, students finished with a 20-medal haul.
The versatile Novell was again successful with a gold in the javelin, 100 metre hurdles and shot putt, while Laura Moran was victorious in the 400m.
Cross-country specialist Sarah Waldron bagged the 3,000m title and Anna Simmonds secured the 800m crown. Waldron and Simmonds achieved qualifying times to compete in next month's English Schools finals in Birmingham.
Worcester Sixth Form's football first team have enjoyed a superb season, reaching the British Colleges semi-finals.
They won the West Midlands trophy and then made fine progress on a national level from more than 100 entries before losing narrowly in the last four to Middlesbrough Sixth Form College after extra-time.
A large number of first-year students have demonstrated huge potential and the team also won the district cup by beating Pershore High School 8-0.
They managed to bag a fixture with Aston Villa's youth team as a result.
On the basketball court, Worcester Sixth Form's academy finished the season on a high note by winning the Worcestershire Under 19s Cup for the third time in the last four years.
The team also reached the National Academy quarter-finals and took the West Midlands Colleges Knockout Cup.
In the British Colleges inter-regional competition, Worcester represented the West Midlands and were sixth.
