Old Hill 162 all out Barnt Green 163-4
Barnt Green beat Old Hill by six wickets
Cockspur National Knockout Cup
MILES Illingworth scooped his best figures of the season so far, as Green comfortably won the regional final to book their place in the competition's national stage.
Illingworth, son of captain and former Worcestershire spinner Richard, took 4-28 in nine overs as Old Hill suffered an alarming collapse on Sunday.
Green had won the toss and opted to put Old Hill into bat on a damp wicket.
But Khan (60) and Attique-ur-Rehman (42) had batted aggressively as Old Hill streaked to 100-2.
However, their cavalier attitude played into Green's hands as spinner Illingworth wreaked havoc.
The captain (2-30) and Kris Howes (2-25) also profitted, as Old Hill collapsed to 162 all out.
Matt Dallaway (52), Simon Froggatt (27) and Wilkinson (38 not out) then got amongst the runs as Green reached their target for victory in 42 overs.
First team manager Paul Clarke said: "Old Hill are really adventurous when it comes to batting and that really worked in our favour.
"The conditions weren't really right for that and they threw away a good start.
"The spinners were also really effective and took full advantage of a damp pitch."
Green will now face Bowdon away in the final 16 of the competition on July 10.
This will be the sixth straight away game in the cup Green have had, but victory would ensure that the quart-er-final and semi-final would be at Cherry Hill Road - if they progress that far.
Clarke said: "The away matches have been a challenge, but if we make it as far the final eight we will have home advantage."
