AS a participant in the recent youth day in Rubery I am a little perplexed as to why there was such a lack of coverage given to this event by the local media.
Was is because this event involved the people of Rubery? If this event had taken place in Bromsgrove, I am almost certain that it would have got more than a 10cm square mention.
What is it about Rubery that seems to put off the local media covering events there?
We have a Remembrance Day parade which is never covered, a youth marching band contest, which is never covered, and numerous groups and societies which could fill the local papers with their achievements.
There is a lot more on offer for youth in Rubery than in Bromsgrove, but all of the media's time and the council's money is ploughed into Bromsgrove and Rubery is dismissed without a thought.
Come on Bromsgrove Council and the media give Rubery a chance, it is a very vibrant and lively village if only you would bother to look.

l Editor's note: Rubery Youth Day received plenty of coverage during the build up to the event with a number of stories outlining what was in store for visitors. A photographer was booked to attend on the day, but was unable to cover the event at short notice.
To suggest we did not cover Rubery Youth Day simply because it was in Rubery is totally wrong. As a paper we believe in equal coverage for every area in our patch and try to do so whenever appropriate.
Rubery is a valuable news area to us and we welcome any information about both events and issues that effect residents and visitors.
