LAST Saturday saw the second Shakespeare Qualifier on Hampton Ferry and Evesham Town Waters where 56 anglers were in action on a slightly swollen Avon that rose as they fished to well over two feet in flood at the finish.
Defying the law that you don't catch on a rising river, Dave Harrell had a worthy catch of bream for 14lbs 6ozs off Ferry peg 45.
In second place was Nott-ingham tackle agent Steve Toone who had one tench and a bream from Town peg 48 that weighed in at 12lbs 14ozs,
Dave Kimber, fishing for Maver Loughborough, had in his mixed bag two bream totalling 12lbs 10ozs from peg 35 on the Ferry.
Dave Kirk (Isis of Oxford) was fourth after weighing in 12lbs 2ozs from Ferry peg 3. Redditch's Martin Tremlick (Ovation Leisure) was fifth with 11lbs 7ozs (Ferry 6).
Pole Feeder/Worm seemed to be the popular method on a day when Kimber and Toone qualified to fish at this year's Shakespeare Cham-pionships.
The next qualifier is on Saturday, when the draw is at 9am at Raphaels Rest-aurant at Hampton Ferry.
