The June meeting was well supported, thanks to our local newspapers helping in May by reporting the possible closure of the forum.
Now the question is "ask not what can Bromsgrove do for me but what can I do for Bromsgrove?"
Elderly people in Bromsgrove have a great deal of expertise in many fields of endeavour, not only with the ability to learn from each other but to pass on their experience to younger folk. Attending the meeting every second Tuesday of the month can be a start to getting things done!
Arrangements have been made for a meeting at Amphlett Hall (by St John's Church) today (Wednesday) at 10.30 am, where there will be cream cakes and coffee, then celebrity Judy Hickman Smith will tell us about "Childhood during Wartime". A donation of £1 to help with the catering.
Again the question of public transport was raised, is it free for OAPs? Do some bus drivers insist on some payment off their own bat?
Churchfields new school project is causing some concern for some elderly ones, hopefully greater consideration could be given to some who will be greatly affected by the building contractors, it seems that some could be prisoners in their homes. The next meeting takes place on Tuesday, July 12. All letters to Wendron Day Centre, Chapel Street B60 2BQ.
