Lickey WI met the Parish Hall on June 7. Final arrangements were made for a coach outing to Cirencester and Buscot Park later in the month and names were taken for a theatre visit in September.
A team from Lickey had taken part in the Hillside Group Skittles Event which had been won by Rubery WI.
There were three raffle winners. The competition for 'an interesting rock' was well-supported.
Ken Godfrey, of Drakelow, gave an illustrated talk about the Kinver tunnels, which had been used as a shadow factory manufacturing aircraft engines during the Second World War. The tunnels were subsequently maintained as a safe location for a regional seat of Government in the event of nuclear war.
On Tuesday, July 5, Lickey WI will celebrate its birthday at the parish hall with an American supper and entertainment.
The competition will be for 'a buttonhole' which all members are encouraged to wear.
