CAPTAIN'S Day is traditionally a fun event and this year's tournament at The Vale Golf and Country was staged on a course fully utilising the water features.
In fact, a total of 347 balls were lost on the day indicating how a small change from the norm leads to drastic results.
Geoff Scott's team with a net score of 57 won the competition. Jackie Marks sent down the longest drive by a lady, while Joe Palowski smashed one almost 400 yards to take the men's prize.
Nearest the Pin was won by head green keeper Mark Heath and for the ladies by Fi Mitchell.
Those who won a medal 12 months previous contested the ladies Medal Winners' Medal.
This year, playing in wet and windy conditions, Angela Catlin won the gross with a score of 87 while the net winner was Rosie Loh with a 76.
The Granny Cup was won by one of the youngest looking ones at the club, namely Sonya Byrd with 34 stableford points closely followed by Fiona Mitchell (33).
The warm sultry conditions brought the best out of Becca McGowan who, for the third successive week, won the Bronze Division prize and achieved an incredible stableford score of 44 points, eight under her handicap that has now been reduced by three shots to 19!
Rosie Loh (36pts) topped the Silver Division listings ahead of Lyn Robinson who was runner-up on countback from Pauline Kay (35).
Second in the Bronze standings was Kath Hudders (35) while the Copper winner was Ina O'Connor (39), five points clear of Pauline Lee.
