ONE of the best things about In Your Honour is the fact the album's two discs are the musical equivalents of chalk and cheese.
The first CD packs a rock-hard punch and hits the ground running with the superb title track In Your Honour followed by No Way Back.
The disc continues in a similarly powerful vein and climaxes on the same high note with which it began, with End Over End and The Sign.
The track lyrics on the second CD are equally as powerful and passionate as those on the first but are delivered in a more sensual and mellow way.
The band, fronted by former Nirvana drummer David Grohl, although perfectly capable of creating a top notch album on their own, have had a little help this time from some of their equally talented peers.
In Your Honour has some wonderful tracks featuring the haunting voice of Norah Jones, John Paul Jones on mandolin and piano and Rami Jaffe on keyboards, to name but a few.
This is an outstanding album which two discs of songs which stir up entirely different moods for the listener.
