EVESHAM boys returned home with a crop of medals from last Saturday's prestigious Peterborough Junior Regatta.
Racing, over a 1000m course against some of the best junior clubs in the country the Evesham boys won one bronze and three silver medals, setting themselves up nicely for next month's National Championships.
The medal charge was led by Jon and Ben Farrar, who fought well for second place in the J13 doubles final, behind a combined pair from Mar-low and Maidenhead.
Obviously being identical twins can be a real benefit when you need to match the rhythm and style of your partner and their performance, in blustery conditions that gave them the worst of the draw, was exceptionally promising.
Next up it was the turn of the J14 Quad of Will Tew, Oli Staite, Rory Sullivan and Danny Sadler, coxed by Terry McDonald.
This crew finished fifth in the National Schools final and were looking for revenge on the crews that finished first and second.
They managed to accomplish half the job, beating Hampton School but failing to catch Windsor Boys who look the team to beat in the National Champion-ships.
The last medal opportunity lay in the final of the J14 Doubles where Eve-sham were represented by two crews.
Despite being drawn in the unfavourable outside lanes, they both battled well to bring back a silver and bronze.
Staite and Sadler grabbed the silver with a charge that started 200 metres out when Staite let out his traditional roar of encouragement. Will Tew and Dec- lan Clarke, meanwhile, finished fastest of all to take the bronze medal position.
