A FURIOUS Hunt End woman has hit out at Redditch Council chiefs after part of a tree - which they claimed was sound - fell and crushed her daughter's trampoline.
Mandy Yates, of Feckenham Road, said she had warned the council "time and time again" the oak tree in her back garden was dangerous before part of it fell on Friday morning.
She said her daughter, Lydia, 10, spent most of her time playing on the garden trampoline and she had lived in fear of the tree falling on her.
"It was an accident waiting to happen," said Mrs Yates.
"What angers me most is I begged the council to fell it but even after inspecting it, they assured me it was sound."
Council aboricultural officer Carl Walker said at the time of the visit the tree appeared healthy and there was no indication it would fall down.
He said: "The tree has a protection order on it and to date, we've only received two applications to fell it, one in 1993 and one last Monday."
But he said officers would re-visit the site and advise on any necessary action.
Mrs Yates said: "I understand the need to protect old trees but the council have prized the tree's preservation over the safety of my daughter, which is disgusting."
