I HAVE recently tried to make an appointment at my fianc's GP surgery, Hill View Medical Centre.
I notified the receptionist we had moved home from Church Hill to Lodge Park.
The receptionist informed me Lodge Park was outside the catchment area and my fianc could no longer be registered at Hill View Medical Centre.
I thought this sounded strange so I asked to speak to the practice manager, who clarified what the receptionist had said.
I am disgusted with this system as my fianc has been a patient with the medical centre for the past 27 years.
The practice manager said the reasoning behind this was so the medical centre could make way for new residents who live in and around the Brockhill area. This apparently will enable the medical centre to provide quality care.
The medical centre is obviously not able to provide quality care as a patient who has been registered with them for 27 years has had the door closed in his face because he moved from Church Hill to Lodge Park.
The practice manager assured me nothing would be done about this problem as this was how the system worked.
I feel this is a poor quality system as my fianc has been loyal to the medical centre for all these years.
He now has to register at a new GP surgery.
Surely the public have a say in which medical centre they register with. After all, we do pay National Insurance.
