AT THE June open meeting, members were told that WI House in Worcester is to be sold and smaller, less-costly premises looked for. The institute had received several interesting invitations. Unfortunately, the outing to Abakhan Fabrics had to be cancelled through lack of support.
Speaker Lynda Kettle had been a set designer at the BBC and kept members enthralled with her stories of working on many famous TV programmes, such as Howard's Way, Angels and Basil Brush. She also worked on the emergency reconstruction programme 999, which brought its own problems. Margaret J Smith gave the vote of thanks.
Members were reminded of the hospital fete on July 2 and had a collection in lieu of cakes for the WI stall there. Items made by Jean Lees and Margaret E Smith for the Spring Craft Rally were on show. Judy Robinson had entered the flower-arranging competition.
The 10th newsletter was on sale, edited and produced by Jackie Grier. Jean Hill won the competition, with Jean Todd second and Jean Lees third. Barbara Allbutt won Flower of the Month. The next meeting is on July 11, all members and friends welcome.
