THE June meeting was a combined business and AGM. President Sue Whiteside opened her final address for the year by asking the candle of friendship to be lit for close neighbour, Redditch Kingfisher Club.
The proceeds of the charity funds were then divided into the nominated recipients, Acorns Hospice, Lupus Trust and Air Ambulance. Club officers gave their annual reports and correspondence was discussed.
Sue then handed over to incoming President Valerie Pickering, gifts were given and received by Sue, who thanked the club and said she had enjoyed her year.
Valerie, who embarks on her third term as president, then introduced her committee members and outlined plans for the coming year. Her chosen charity will be Air Ambulance.
The club was thanked for attending a beetle drive organised by Elizabeth Ostroumoff and her husband Mike, where a considerable sum was raised in aid of the setting up of a library in Mpongwe, Zambia, the club's overseas charity.
