SHOPPERS visiting Worcester took advantage of free car parking in the city centre.

The two pay-and-display machines at King Street car park have been out of order since Tuesday due to work by power firm Central Networks.

Holes in the ground mean dfrivers cannot get to the machines to buy a ticket and warning signs say they are out of order.

Rita Houghton, of the city council parking department, said the work was due to be completed on Tuesday but ran over until today.

"If the public can't get to the machines they can't buy tickets but we won't be ticketing anyone," she said.
