FORMER Kidderminster Harriers goalkeeper, Darren Steadman, who stole almost £1 million from style guru, Sir Terence Conran, has been ordered to repay £450,000 by the courts.
Steadman, 35, who is serving a four-and-a-half-year sentence for stealing the money from Sir Terence's bank account, appeared at a confiscation hearing before Worcester Crown Court on Monday.
Judge Michael Mott ordered him to pay back £450,000 of the estimated £2,342,236 he was calculated to have made from his criminal activity. Steadman has six months to repay the cash or he will face an additional three years in prison.
When he was convicted last year, he was found guilty of retaining unlawful credits totalling £979,991 from Sir Terence's bank account.
The £450,000 was seized using the Criminal Justice Act, which enables financial investigators in West Mercia Constabulary's economic crime unit to apply through the courts to recover assets gained from criminal activity.
