I HAVE just returned from my annual visit to the West Midland Safari and Leisure Park and felt I had to write.
I have been reading in the paper about all the problems with White Tiger Ridge, and appreciate we all need to apply for planning permission to build houses, extensions etc, but what on earth have they done to deserve all this hassle?
Build a new tiger house to replace a run down building, and put tigers back in the same area they occupied 30 years ago - the only difference being a watchtower which seems to be obscured from the neighbours' view by the trees.
As for causing accidents, how can White Tiger Ridge, one mile off the main road, cause accidents?
The only way is by encouraging more people to visit, this in turn brings revenue to the area and provides employment for local people for nine months of the year.
Are these accidents definitely caused by the park? Do they happen between 9.30am and 6pm from February until November? If they are outside these times, how can the park be blamed?
To me this seems a "dog in the manger" attitude, or should I say "no tiger on a ridge".
