AFTER Lionel Newton's long-winded deliberation on who should be allowed to form the next board at Kidderminster Harriers for the fast-approaching season, surely the die is cast for yet another disappointing season on the field.

There are barely enough players for a five-a-side team, let along a squad needed to mount a serious challenge for the Conference title.

Following on from last season's disasters, both on and off the pitch, and the latest charade, the club is fast becoming the laughing stock of professional football.

Perhaps the club can learn a thing or two from near neighbours Stourport Swifts. With very little money, under the shrewd chairmanship of Chris Reynolds, ably assisted by stalwart secretary John McDonald and team manager Dave Titterton, Swifts have more than held their own in the Dr Martens Western Division.

They have a young squad playing fast, attacking football which at times has been a pleasure to watch.

So, if some Harriers supporters fancy watching a decent game of football, particularly when the Harriers are playing away, come down and watch the Swifts. Who knows, you may spot a Harriers player of the future.
