On June 18 Jonathan Darby, Russell Painter and David Morgan presented Summer Serenade at Kidderminster Town Hall, and received a standing ovation.
There were items from opera, operetta, oratorio, and popular songs.
Jonathan's solos included the show-stopper Ol' Man River from Showboat, Stars from Les Miserables, Mr Cellophane from Chicago, and Toreador's Song from Carmen. Russell's selection included Je Crois Entendre Encore from The Pearl Fishers, Albert the Good from Albert Herring, and Anthem from Chess.
Each sang a Roger Quilter song and an item from Handel's Messiah.
There were duets - We're Called Gondolieri from The Gondoliers, What Causes That from Crazy For You, Pore Jud is Daid from Oklahoma! and The Gendarmes - the latter two having the audience in stitches. The encore was the duet everyone was waiting for - Au Fonds du Temple Saint, from Pearl Fishers.
Apart from accompanying the singers, David also played two piano solos, The Harmonious Blacksmith and Bruyeres by Debussy.
